I live in a Homeland called Waṉḏawuy, it’s a two hour drive from Nhulunbuy. We have an airstrip, a school and a shop where we buy things like soft drink, packet of chips, steak, vegies, tin flour and tin food. Wandawuy is a very nice place with small community,there are nine houses at Waṉḏawuy. I like living in a Homeland,because thats where my fathers heritage comes from,we have a big river that we go out for fishing and in the river we get some of the things to eat like cat-fish (gaṉŋal) freshwater mussel (djarrwiṯ) long neck turtle (garriwa) freshwater yabbies (ḏakawa) and some crocodiles that just swims along ,but does’nt eat people.
