Waŋupini

The waŋupini represents the women figure of the land at Djarrakpi. The lines on Waŋupini is the raki (ceremonial string) which Napiliŋu (anc. female being) wore. Guwak is the bird, which means land and also male figure of the land. The two Garanirrnirr (cicada’s) are the Marawili clan.

The cross hatching on either side of the waŋupini is the water that surrounds the land at Djarrakpi and also it is picked up by the waŋupini and it then rains down on Djarrakpi and fills the lagoon. The same string was helped by various animals to shape out the lagoon at Djarrakpi called Goŋun. The cross hatching also may mean fresh water because of the lagoon.
