Yathikpa
“This print shows my place at Yathikpa, Gunburrutjpi near Yilpara where I live. This also the design for Garraŋali as well which is inland within the mangroves. It is the source of Maḏarrpa souls. It is a crocodile nesting place. We know places within the mangroves called Mamburrutjpi and Ditjpal. It is very sacre dbut if we go in there we can see different flowers known as Wärrkarr (lily–inedible onion-like bulb White Sand Lily, White Forest Lily, Crinum asiaticum, C. uniflorum). This plant tells us that the stingray liver is ripe when it is blooming. The water inside this place is wiḏiya. But because I show the gamaṯa (seagrass Zostera sp. Eelgrass) this tells us that I am painting the offshore reef (bätpa) which is a different section of the songlines. The water here is muŋurru.”
