Shark in the mud
This print is about a shark traveling from saltwater to fresh water. The shark travels from place to place. When it reaches near a place called Waṉdawuy there are people hunting for catfish, making a fish trap and all of a sudden the shark was blinded by a poison called daŋgi. The shark started thrashing about in the mud of the shallow water; then it died. That’s where our story began and that’s our song line. The mintji in this print shows the fish trap design as well as salt water and freshwater designs.
