This artwork tells the story of how the mother turtles come on to the beach every year and lay their eggs and how the babies come out from the sand and leave their tracks going back into the water. We Yolŋu people know these seasons and we can follow the tracks. We can find the hidden nests under the sand by reading the tracks and we can collect and eat the eggs. This is what we do.
