As told by the artist:
‘This story is about Gurka’wuy water (gapu). The rock is in this water out from the river mouth in the bay. In the saltwater. This special and sacred rock (Gunda) is called Bamurrungu.
There are two sisters standing together in the Molk (burial ground) at the bottom of the design. The design at the top is in the mangrove. The mosquito is coming down to this country. The top design is where the mosquitoes live. The fish (guya) is rotating between the river and the sea, also around the special and sacred rock called Bamurrungu.
Fish are just like you and me, we travel. If you dive your mind you can see the guya (fish) rotating around the waters.’
