This work consists of imagery representing the whale mythology of the defunct clan of the Lamamirri.
The artist’s father, Djalaliŋba Yunupiŋu of the Gumatj clan now presides over this country at Nanydjaka (Cape Arhem) and directs Deturru in her art. The triangle designs represent clouds on the horizon.
