Bloods and Bones
This print began with a photo taken down at “The Tunnel” an area in Yirrkala when the kids go to sniff petrol.
‘ On the first day when we came into the arts centre to do this project we all went for a drive around the community to take photos. We drove down to the small creek, the tunnel, while we were there we found these 3 boys sniffing in the morning. So we took photos of them. On the tree above them someone had graffitied ‘bloods’, which is a gang name. I drew the bones, like blood and bones. Those boys’ brains are melting away too.
