The project is about identity of yolngu women and this group of print makers.
The skirts we all wear everyday for work are always bright and colourful long skirts, with different design and patterns. We put the skirt designs with our faces through the screenprinting process as an exploration of identity.
I really like yathiny (turtle food) and wanted to include it into the design. The yathiny live in the sand and are bright blue. The silver in the print shows how they shine sparkle.
The leopard print background is also one of my yapa skirts.
