As told by the artist:
‘Djaykuŋ (file snake) is a freshwater snake that lives under the water lillies. When they hear the storm the djaykuŋ come out of the water and stay on the bank. Also ganŋal (catfish) and dakawa (crayfish) live in the freshwater.
Djaykuŋ (filesnake) is sacred for people of the Gälpu clan. My Märi (mother’s mother) country.’
