This story is about dhonyin( filesnake). This is a Gälpu clan design. In the middle is the billabong with lilies growing on the surface. This is rapiny monuk (freshwater). The trees are Ṉämbarra (Melaleuca). The Ṉämbarra are sung and danced in buŋgul (ceremony) by Djapu and Dhuḏi Djapu clan. The Yolngu connection with Djapu and Gälpu clans are Märi (grandfather) Gutharra (grandchild) relationship.
Filesnake is also a good food source in NE Arnhem Land, when the water goes down low the snake hides in the muddy areas. It is harmless, the old people would catch the snake and bight the head to kill it than cook it on in the fire with Guṉḏirr (termite nest).
