Bol’pu
Bol’pu were used by our ancestors a long time ago, and are still used to this day. They are woven with gunga (pandanus) and dyed with natural colours from roots and leaves.
We use bol’pu for hunting and harvesting things like djinydjalma (crabs), guya (fish), ganguri’ (yams) and guku (honey) and lots of other bush ŋatha (food).
While mostly used by miyalk (women) for gathering natha, the ḏirramu (men) use bol’pu for boys ceremony and mens business. Men will ask the women to weave the baskets for these ceremonies. These baskets are often decorated with feathers and paint.
