‘Bawaka is the land of the anchor and the stingray, which belongs to the Gumatj people.
Anchor is represented by five clans, Warramiri, Gumatj, Gurrumuru Dhalwanggu, Munyuku,Nundhirribala.
Stingray represents yothu yindi (mother-child), the circle in the middle tells this it is a birth place.
The blue current connects the knowledge of Dhuwa and Yirritja.
All this area at Bawaka and Dhanaya is called Wurmarri.’
