Father is Wakuthi. Mother is Mulkun. Younger brother to high profile artist and leader Djambawa Marawili, amidst a whole family of artists. Originally he was almost exclusively making artwork within the strict canons of Maḏarrpa clan law.Over time he has introduced naturalistic, representational and abstract elements into his work. After his mother’s successful show Miḏawarr/Harvest he was inspired to illustrate natural foods for the purpose of educating others of their excellent taste and nutrition. More recently he has experimented with dropping a lot of colour out of his pallette and creating works dominated by white line work.
