Malalakpuy emerged into the art world in 1999 as he was entrusted with the right to paint sacred Wangurri imagery by clan elders, Mathulu and Bawurr. He resides at Dhalinybuy. Since this time he has produced a quantity of works that show a high calibre of painting skill. Occasionally he makes yiḏaki, often working in partnership with his brother Bandamul. His yiḏaki are of a high standard, beautifully painted with sacred Wangurri clan designs.
