Buwathay is also known as Muŋandjiwuy and is the leader for the Wangurri clan, after his father Gadal’miny (Mathulu). He lives at Dhalinybuy and sometimes occupies the Mutamul outstation. He is a Uniting Church minister and is an important lawman for the Wangurri clan. He spends most of his time involved with ceremony at Galiwin’ku and Dhalinybuy and occasionally makes yiḏaki for commercial sale. He is not a prolific artist but his works are of serious integrity and more than often exceptionally good. He made significant contribution to the Kerry Stokes Larrakitj Collection. His entry to the 2012 NATSIAA was accepted as a finalist and eventually purchased by the Museum for its permanent collection. In 2018-19 he was elected as Chair of Buku-Larrŋgay Mulka Centre for one year.
