I was born in Galiwinku and I now reside in Birritjimi (Wallaby Beach). My mother taught me how to harvest Gunga (pandanus) and split the leaves. Anne Gurruwiwi (dec) taught me how to start the bottom of a bathi (basket). I taught myself how to make earrings and now they call me ‘The Fish Lady’ because I like to weave ‘Guya’ (fish). These days I get help from my family to harvest the materials for my work.
