Djalpat is a senior Marrakulu ceremonial leader and law man. His father was Mulayal #1.
He lives his role as a custodian of country by staying at the homelands of Gurka’wuy and occasionally Balaypalay. He has a quiet and humble demeanour.
His growth as an artist is evident in the increased scale and refinement of his sculptural work. Common themes are spirit figures together with kangaroos, reminiscent of the sculptural works of Dundiwuy Wanambi, a central figure in the Film Australia (Ian Dunlop) films, whose sculptural works are held in the National Gallery of Australia.
